This October, STOR-i welcomed its newest cohort of MRes students to its Centre for Doctoral Training. The cohort consists of thirteen students who have joined us from the UK, Spain, Vietnam and China, to embark on the STOR-i programme.

As part of their welcome week induction, the MRes students, along with the 1st year PhD cohort and various staff members, spent two days in the Lake District enjoying a packed schedule of team-building activities. These were designed to help them bond quickly and create a strong foundation of community, a core element to STOR-i’s ethos.

The two-day event saw teams of staff and students enjoying, or sometimes braving, the weather to participate in canoeing, gorge scrambling or walking. While at other times, they competed against each other in a series of different physical and mental challenges. It was a good opportunity for the new cohort to get to know each other, their mentors in the year above, and STOR-i staff, in a fun and relaxed (and occasionally damp) setting. STOR-i’s applications for October 2027 entry are already open, so if you are interested in joining us, you can learn more about the programme and how to apply on the STOR-i website.
