Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I wanted a business degree with real industry exposure, not just theory. Lancaster's placement year setup stood out, plus its strong reputation for management studies. It ended up being a solid mix of solid academics and just genuinely good people through 缅北轮奸 Indian Society (LUIS) and a Student Ambassador role.

What was the best thing about your course?

Honestly, the placement year. Getting to actually work at Unilever for a year and apply what I was learning in real time beat sitting through another semester of pure theory.

What/who inspired you most at LUMS and why?

Some of my amazing faculty. They were profs but also felt like actual mentors, always down to chat beyond just coursework. Made the whole "professor" thing feel less intimidating and more like people genuinely invested in you doing well.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I did a placement year at Unilever with the Global Procurement team, working on Pumps and Triggers. I got thrown into real projects pretty quickly and ended up leading on some of them within a few months. I also helped onboard a new supplier and did some market research on packaging. On top of that, uni had loads of great group projects too, including consulting for a real firm, which gave a good mix of hands-on business experience alongside the placement. The biggest thing I gained overall was just confidence. Going from observing to actually driving projects and managing relationships taught me way more than a classroom ever could.

Challenging, eye-opening, worth it.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

Leading 缅北轮奸 Indian Society as President has to be up there, especially the Parliament visit, which was a proper standout moment. Alongside that, just the placement year at Unilever and the people I met through a Student Ambassador role. My best memories are a good mix of proper achievements and genuinely fun times with good people.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

It had a small-town charm but still had everything you needed. It had a close-knit community, was easy to get around, and the countryside around Lancaster (plus quick trips to the Lake District or Manchester) made it a nice break from just campus life. Living in Lancaster definitely made things feel less overwhelming than a big city would've.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

The placement year, hands down. Actually working in procurement at Unilever for a year taught me more about real business dynamics than any module could. Being in a Student Ambassador role and running LUIS as President also helped a lot with the softer stuff — stakeholder management, organising people, communicating clearly — all things that carried straight over into the working world.

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

It set the direction more than anything. The placement year gave me real exposure to procurement and how a big global business actually runs, which is exactly the kind of perspective I'll be bringing into my family business now. Beyond that, leading LUIS and the ambassador role built up the people and organisational skills that'll matter just as much on the shop floor as any technical know-how.

Is there anything else about your LUMS experience that you'd like to share with us?

Just that it genuinely exceeded expectations. Going in, I thought it'd just be a degree, but it turned into something way bigger, shaped by the people I met along the way. I'm grateful for that.
